Jakarta – (13/02/2025) Production house Heart Pictures has officially released the first look for their highly anticipated debut film, "Dowa Juseyo." At a press conference, the official poster and teaser trailer were unveiled, offering a chilling glimpse into the horror film that combines elements of Indonesian and South Korean urban legends.
"Dowa Juseyo" (도와주세요), which means "Help Me" in Korean, marks Heart Pictures' initial foray into the national film industry. Filmed on location in Busan, South Korea, the movie promises a unique horror experience with strong touches of drama and suspense.
A Tale of Terror in a Foreign Land
The 1-minute 30-second teaser trailer introduces the main character, Tania, played by Saskia Chadwick. Tania is an Indonesian student participating in an exchange program in South Korea. Instead of a pleasant academic experience, she finds herself terrorized by a restless spirit tied to a local urban legend.
The footage showcases tense scenes where Tania begins to experience mysterious disturbances and possession. This terror is revealed to be connected to the tragic story of a girl who was a victim of bullying and sexual abuse, now seeking justice.
Herty Purba, the CEO and founder of Heart Pictures, stated that "Dowa Juseyo" is not just an ordinary horror film. "This story is about the fight for justice and courage, something relevant to many people's lives. We are addressing social issues such as bullying and sexual violence," she said in a written statement.
A Two-Country Collaboration
The film project is a collaboration between filmmakers and actors from Indonesia and South Korea. Directed by Nur Muhammad Taufik and Sjahfasyat Bianca, with a screenplay by Nucke Rachma, the film also stars Cinta Brian, Dito Darmawan, Aruma Khadijah, and William Robert from Indonesia.
Joining the cast are South Korean actors Kim Geba (known as the YouTuber "Bung Korea") and Kim Seoyoung, who will lend authenticity to the film's setting.
For its theme song, "Dowa Juseyo" features a rearranged version of the popular song "Semua Tentang Kita" by the band NOAH. The song is performed by Shakira Jasmine with lyrics adapted into Korean, titled "Urieui Iyagi."***
